![]() VITA Jan Philipp (1987) is a German film producer, director, and screenwriter. Before his studies at Hochschule Film & Fernsehen (HFF) München, he had already worked as director's assistant and manager in more than 40 projects within the film industry, TV and advertising. He worked with, among others, Bernd Eichinger, Constantin Film, Bavaria Film, Collina Film, TV60, Hofmann & Voges, Lichtenberg & Gray Productions. Jan also participated in international productions such as 'The Three Musketeers 3D'. His debut film BUENA VISTA CHICO was filmed exclusively in Cuba during 2016, and co-produced by the Escuela Internacional de Cine y Televisión (EICTV), San Antonio de los Baños, Cuba. His screenplay for his next feature film, titled 'Running against the wind', an adventure of two friends in Ethiopia, was proposed by the Verband der deutschen Film- und Fernsehdramaturgie (German Playwright Federation) for the Roland Zag Screenplay Award in 2016. Activism Jan Philipp’s involvement in activism and philanthropy goes back to his teenage years. At the age of 14, he volunteered at one of Menschen für Menschen (MfM) foundation’s projects, “ Athiopienhilfe”; also sponsored by Karlheinz Böhm. This proposal, sponsored by the same Karlheinz Böhm and MfM, brought Jan Philipp to Ethiopia in 2008, when the amount was achieved. Still today this project is alive and running, having received over €80,000 Euros from donations. Out of this development, Jan co-founded the association “ Moltke-für-Afrika” that keeps track of the school’s progresses. Jan also collaborates with other humanitarian associations, such as Viva Con Aqua (VCA), and has been involved in an undertaking where different German and Ethiopian musicians (Clueso, Max Herre, Normann Sinn, Tim Neuhaus, DJ Samon, Samuel Yirga and the Ethiopian legend Abera Mola) have joined forces to bring sanitary water using the power of music. This special connection with Ethiopia and its people, has brought Jan Philipp to choose Ganda Abdi as the location of one of his next feature film projects.
